Fnatic RC vs. Eclypsia

Game 1

Fnatic

Bans: fizz, lee sin, nunu

Picks

  • Ezreal - CandyPanda (adc)
  • Zilean - xPeke (mid)
  • Zyra - nRated (support)
  • Skarner - Cyanide (jungle)
  • Irelia - s0AZ (top)

Eclypsia

Bans: sona, jayce, rengar

Picks

  • Udyr - ImSoFresh (jungle)
  • Corki - Killwar (adc)
  • Ahri - tabzz (mid)
  • Blitzcrank - Háydál (support)
  • Renekton - fredy122 (top)

Fnatic struggled early game. With the help of Udyr (ImSoFresh), Renekton (fredy112) was able to dominate Irelia (s0AZ), and help bot lane overwrite Ezreal's (CandyPanda) farm lead by netting Corki (Killwar) a few kills. With the early lead, Eclypsia slowly started to snowball the game in their favor. However, a misstep involving fredy112 allowed Fnatic to win a team fight and take two mid towers to iron out Eclypsia's advantage. The next ten minutes were tedious, as mutual recognition of each teams' strengths formed a stale mate. It was Eclypsia that break under the pressure first. Fnatic's expertly placed baron bait, forced Eclypsia to intervene, instantly taking out fredy112, quickly giving Fnatic the advantage for a 4-0 exchange. After taking the mid inhibitor, Fnatic would swiftly heal and take baron while Eclypsia is still distracted which was the final push needed for Fnatic to wreak havoc in Eclypsia's base, forcing out the surrender.

Game 2

Fnatic

Bans: fizz, nunu, sona

Picks

  • Jarvan IV - s0AZ (top)
  • Orianna - xPeke (mid)
  • Ezreal - CandyPanda (adc)
  • Lee sin - Cyanide (jungle)
  • Taric - nRated (support)

Eclypsia

Bans: shen, zilean, rengar

Picks

  • Kog'maw - Killwar (adc)
  • Nidalee - tabzz (mid)
  • Janna - Háydál (support)
  • Jayce - fredy112 (top)
  • Skarner - ImSoFresh (jungle)

In Game 2 it was Fnatic that controlled much of the early aggression. Having a better early game team, Fnatic was able bully Eclypsia. However, Eclypsia was able to start reacting to any ganks and aggression coming from Fnatic, slowly turning these small skirmishes in their favor. Mid game was where Eclypsia showed their power. With their superior poking ability, Eclypsia was able to fend off any initiation from Fnatic, allowing free damage on towers. Unable to get their ideal initiation, Eclypsia eventually accumulated a lead in which Fnatic was no longer able to win team fights. Eclypsia was able to burst the Fnatic front line really quickly, forcing Fnatic to retreat. With their only advantage gone, Fnatic was at a loss. This allowed Eclypsia to force a baron, and eventually push to win.

Unfortunately, Fnatic became overly reliant on the initiation of s0AZ (Jarvan IV). Fnatic needed to quickly take out Kog Maw if they ever hoped to win a team fight, but Eclypsia had many sources of disengaging team fights which allowed them to further flaunt their superior poking and kiting capabilities.

Game 3

Fnatic

Bans: fizz, nidalee, nunu

Picks

  • Diana - xPeke (mid)
  • Skarner - Cyanide (jungle)
  • Sivir - CandyPanda (sivir)
  • Zyra - nRated (support)
  • Rengar - s0AZ (top)

Eclypsia

Bans: zilean, shen, sona

Picks

  • Ezreal - Killwar (adc)
  • Oriana - tabzz (mid)
  • Malphite - ImSoFresh (jungle)
  • Jayce - fredy112 (top)
  • Yorick - Háydál (support)

Game three proved to be a lot more one sided than the previous games. Despite Eclypsia's strong showing in game one and two, Fnatic completely overran Eclypsia. Fnatic's overpowering presence in game three was due to the amount of initiation options open to them. They had rengar's invisibility, skarner's impale, diana's ultimate, and zyra's snare, all skills that allowed Fnatic to literally pick fights whenever they chose. It would be Rengar (s0AZ) that would get this ball rolling as soon as he hit level 6. With his incredible ultimate and initiation damage (despite the nerf), he was able to roam and grab multiple kills and give each lane an advantage for his team. Unfortunately, the pressure from Fnatic didn't allow Eclypsia to secure some ward coverage which ultimately proved to be their downfall as it allowed the members of Fnatic to roam freely and persistently press their advantage. With such a commanding lead, Eclypsia could do nothing but slowly concede the match and series to Fnatic.

Key Plays:

Fnatic in game one won a crucial team fight around the 20th minute which evened out the game for them, giving them 3 kills and 2 towers.

MVP

s0AZ (rengar) was the hero of game three. being able to freely roam around the map with his ultimate, he was able to initiate a snowballing lead for his team which allowed Fnatic to overpower Eclypsia for the win.

Eclypsia slips by KMT 2-1

Game One:

Eclypsia Bans:

Rengar, Orianna, Jayce

Eclypsia Picks:

fredy122 - Top - Renekton

tabzz - Mid - Ahri

kilwar - ADC - Tristana

kazmitch - Support - Taric

ImSoFresh - Jungle - Nunu

KMT Bans:

Fizz, Sona, Shen

KMT Picks:

arQuel - Top - Yorick

r3dz0r - Mid - Katarina

Nzq - ADC - Ezreal

Wost Sona EU - Support - Lulu

Woolite - Jungle - Lee Sin

Renekton (fredy122) dominate Yorick (arQuel) frrom minute one in top lane. It was good to see tabzz playing again as he had a great game as Ahri. r3dz0r matched him as Katarina in lane, but tabzz's early game roaming was much more successful. KMT's high mobility comp experienced a resurgence in mid game as Yorick's ult allowed Katarina to go all in for 20 seconds. Eclypsia maintained their overall advantage and were able to end the game with Tristana (kilwar) sniping from the back lane and taking target after target down.

EC 1, KMT 0

Game Two:

Eclypsia Picks:

fredy122 - Top - Renekton

tabzz - Mid - Diana

kilwar - ADC - Ashe

kazmitch - Support - Taric

ImSoFresh - Jungle - Lee Sin

KMT Picks:

arQuel - Top - Shen

r3dz0r - Mid - Evelynn

Nzq - ADC - Caitlyn

Wost Sona EU - Support - Lulu

Woolite - Jungle - Jarvan IV

KMT were allowed to pick Shen for arQuel and seemed much more comfortable with this comp heading into game two. Their confidence paid off and they enjoyed a 10-0 start, seven of them going to Evelynn (r3dz0r), and a huge farm advantage for Caitlyn (Nzq) over Ashe (kilwar). Evelynn made KMT's first mistake just after the 20 minute mark and got stuck under a turret, starting off a retreat in which they lost three champions for free. Lee Sin (ImSoFresh) was able to pull off a clutch Baron steal at 28 minutes, but it did little more than slow KMT down and EC's nexus fell at 35 minutes.

EC 1, KMT 1

Game Three:

Eclypsia Bans:

Rengar, Lulu, Shen

Eclypsia Picks:

fredy122 - Top - Jayce

tabzz - Mid - Ahri

kilwar - ADC - Corki

kazmitch - Support - Taric

ImSoFresh - Jungle - Udyr

KMT Bans:

Fizz, Nunu, Sona

KMT Picks:

arQuel - Top - Yorick

r3dz0r - Mid - Evelyn

Nzq - ADC - Ezreal

Wost Sona EU - Support - Soraka

Woolite - Jungle - Jarvan IV

KMT were able to take the first dragon of the game after getting ahead in kills and it seemed Eclypsia would have to work for their series to the end. Eclypsia were able to outfarm KMT in every lane despite their early struggles. EC started winnning engagements as mid game developed. The game came to a head at a 25 minute dragon dance where KMT mysitfyingly hard engaged and quickly got overhwelmed for their aggression. EC picked up dragon, followed by Baron and an ace, forcing the surrender vote from KMT. It is always somewhat bemusing to have such a close series end so abruptly, but the farm discrepancy showed that Eclypsia would only be getting stronger.

EC 2, KMT 1

Key Team Fight:

The deciding team fight was in the third game. Jarvan IV (Woolite) forced an ill-advised engagement and eclipsed his team's chances in the series with one fell swoop.

Most Valuable Player:

The MVP of the match goes to fredy122 for dominating arQuel in games one and three by outfarming, outpushing, and knowing when to join his team.

Fnatic outclass MYM and take a 2-0 victory

Game 1

Bans

Fnatic: Sona, Zilean, Yorick MYM: Jayce, Shen, Rengar

Picks

Fnatic: Ezreal (AD), Zyra (sup), Lee Sin (jun), Malphite (top), Diana (mid). MYM: Udyr (jun), Nunu (sup), Vayne (AD), Lux (mid), Vladimir (top).

A 1v1 in the jungle led to MYM picking up first blood via Mokatte who then headed botlane and picked up another fast kill. s0AZ was unfortunately having quite severe lag issues which contributed to him being killed under tower by Vlad. Once he  gets ahead it’s hard to stop Vlad and he pulled out quite a large CS lead. Over in botlane Vayne was having a terrible time, being behind on CS as well as having four deaths at the 15 minute mark. MYM had a small lead for quite some time but after a really nice fight near the Dragon Pit, Fnatic evened up the gold and took the kill lead. After that shift of momentum, Fnatic seized full control of the game and quickly took the first Inhib and a Nexus tower. However, a nice call from MYM allowed them to take Baron and this stalled Fnatic’s cruise to victory. Fnatic did manage to take the next Baron and win a teamfight in the process, taking game one shortly after.

Game 2

Bans

MYM: Jayce, Malphite, Zyra. Fnatic: Sona, Zilean, Rengar.

Picks

MYM: Shen (top), Corki (AD), Taric (sup), Anivia (mid), Maokai (jun). Fnatic: Ezreal (AD), Nunu (sup), Skarner (jun), Orianna (mid), Kennen (top).

MYM started highly aggressive as Maokai camped botlane at level one, taking Twisted Advance and securing first blood for Corki. This set him behind a little in his jungle as Skaner took his blue and an Exp lead. At 20 minutes the teams were even on kills- however superior farm and Dragon control meant Fnatic had a large 6k gold lead. Fnatic spent the game edging more and more ahead and ended up taking a fast win at 27 minutes. MYM never really seemed to be able to get into this game; despite them managing to keep up in kills for quite some time, Fnatic always looked in control.

MVP: xPeke takes this one. With fantastic play over both games, he was a key contributor to Fnatic’s victories. With fantastic roaming on Diana and sick farm on Orianna (293 at 26 minutes) as well as a 6/0/6 score, he really stole the show.

Fnatic are looking really strong and while MYM made a valiant effort to keep up with them, they were outclassed today. They still managed some exciting plays (the first Baron in game one and the level one lane gank in game two) but today was Fnatics day and they progress onto the next round!

SK Gaming wins 2-0 against WinFakt

WinFakt vs. SK

Game 1

SK gaming:

Bans: Sona, Diana, Malphite

Picks:

Corki - YellOwStaR (ADC)

Janna - Nyph (support)

Shen - Araneae (jungle)

Riven - Kev1n (top)

Anivia - Ocelote (mid)

WinFakt:

Bans: Nunu, Alistar, Gragas

Picks:

Ezreal - etnex (ADC)

Lee Sin - Goats (jungle)

Lulu - sixx (support)

Zyra - cowTard (mid)

Rengar - El Muppo (top)

Game one was a game with many twists and turns. For the entire first half of the game, SK and WinFakt took turns pulling slight leads in their favor. Eventually, with slightly better coordination and mid game prowess, WinFakt took a definitive lead. SK had no choice but to go on the full defensive. However, with Anivia's (Ocelote) wave clearing ablilities, and a key baron steal from Shen (Araneae), WinFakt's pushing capabilities were significantly stalled. This stalling paid off as SK was able to catch up with items and begin their comeback. With any item disadvantage diminished, and a better late game team composition, SK was able to slowly but surely pull ahead, winning team fight after team fight. WinFakt in an attempt to regain their advantage, attempted to take Baron, but another baron steal made by Araneae, and great follow up from the rest of the SK team allowed SK to thwart WinFakt and eventually push for the win.

Game 2

SK gaming:

Bans: Zyra, Sona, Diana

Picks:

Ezreal - YellOwStaR (ADC)

Shen - Araneae (jungle)

Yorick - Kev1n (top)

Orianna - Ocelote (mid)

Leona - Nyph (support)

WinFakt:

Bans: Nunu, Gragas, Alistar

Picks:

Jayce - etnex (ADC)

Lulu -sixx (support)

Shyvanna - Goats (jungle)

Irelia - El Muppo (top)

Karthus - cowTard (mid)

Game two saw a lot more early aggression, especially from SK gaming. While WinFakt returned fire with aggression of their own, early roaming performed by Ocelote's Orianna allowed SK to tip the scales in their favor. Seizing the opportunity, SK made a huge three tower push, and a 17:40 minute inhibitor in mid. With a commanding lead, SK was able to apply a split push strategy with Shen (Araneae) further increasing their lead. When everything seemed to be moving smoothly, YellOwStaR on Ezreal found himself caught by all five of WinFakt's team and was felled along with Araneae. WinFakt saw this rare opportunity to go for baron in hopes of making a comeback. However, even with only three members standing, SK was able to prevent WinFakt from taking baron with superb poking and kiting. With all members of SK respawned, they were looking for the chance to win. A chance presented themselves when Sixx on Lulu was caught and killed. SK quickly went for baron. WinFakt made a desperate attempt to stop them, but ultimately failed. Unable to take on an SK team augmented by baron buff, WinFakt eventually surrendered at 34 minutes.

Key Plays

In game one, Araneae on Shen was able to steal Baron twice. The first baron steal seemed insignificant as the only SK member to receive the baron buff was Nyph on Janna. However, without baron buff, WinFakt lacked the man power to finish the game before the rest of SK gaming respawned, significantly extending the game. The second baron steal enabled SK to fight off WinFakt and push for the win.

In game two, the unprecedented three tower and mid inhibitor push made by SK gaming at around 17 minutes gave them a definitive lead and set the pace for the rest of the game leading to WinFakt's surrender.

MVP

The one player to perform big roles in both games was SK's Ocelote. In game one, despite having an extremely tough time against Zyra in lane, pulled through for his team by using Anivia's superior wave clearing capabilities to stall for time. In game two, he made full use of Orianna's poking ability, burst, and utility with good positioning and early roaming to help his team pull ahead and win.
